Yes — completely. NetWorthNow stores all your data locally on your device using your phone's built-in secure storage. Your financial information never leaves your device.

We have no servers. We cannot see your data, access it, or lose it in a breach. The only external service we use is CoinGecko for live crypto prices — and that only receives a coin name (like "bitcoin"), never your balance or any personal information.

💡 For extra protection, enable Face ID in the app's Settings to lock NetWorthNow when you're not using it.

Manual assets (cash savings, ISAs, pension, property) need to be updated by you whenever the value changes.

To update a value:

  • Tap the asset row on your dashboard
  • The edit screen opens with the current value
  • Enter the new value and tap Save changes

The app will remind you to update manual assets after 30 days with an amber warning indicator on the asset row.

💡 Set a monthly reminder on your phone to update your manual values — the last day of each month works well.

Crypto prices update automatically each time you open the app, using CoinGecko's free API.

If your price looks outdated, try these steps:

  • Close the app completely and reopen it
  • Check your internet connection
  • Tap the asset row to open the edit screen, then tap ↺ Refresh price

Prices are cached for 5 minutes to avoid excessive API calls — so if you've just opened the app, wait a moment and the price will refresh.

⚠️ CoinGecko's free API occasionally has brief outages. If prices aren't updating for an extended period, the issue is likely on CoinGecko's side and will resolve itself.

To remove an asset or liability from NetWorthNow:

  • Tap the asset or liability row on your dashboard
  • Scroll to the bottom of the edit screen
  • Tap Remove asset or Remove liability
  • Confirm in the popup

Removing an asset from NetWorthNow only removes it from tracking — it has no effect on your actual holdings, accounts, or investments.

When you see an ~ Estimated badge on a value, it means the figure was calculated by the app from information you provided — rather than being entered directly by you or fetched live.

For example, if you use the mortgage calculator to estimate your outstanding balance from your monthly payment and interest rate, the result is marked as estimated.

⚠️ Estimated values may not reflect your actual balance. Always verify with your bank, lender, or provider for accurate figures. NetWorthNow is not a regulated financial service.

Once you manually enter and save the correct value, the estimated badge disappears.

Currently, NetWorthNow stores data locally on your device only. The best way to protect your data is to ensure your phone is backed up regularly.

On iPhone: Enable iCloud Backup in Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup. This backs up your entire phone including app data.

On Android: Enable Google Backup in Settings → Google → Backup.

If you restore your phone from a backup, NetWorthNow data should be restored automatically.

⚠️ If you delete the app without a device backup, your data cannot be recovered. We're working on an optional cloud backup feature for a future update.
